Redback spider; another view from the back
Apparently there is some argument as to whether the redback is a true Australian native or was transported here from some other place, since they also occur in Indonesia, the Phillipines and India. Some found recently in Japan almost certainly came from Australia, quite possibly in a cargo of wood chips. Maybe one more reason why we should stop turning ancient forests into throw-away newspapers!
