A tiny bird, and not always easily seen
There are lots of silvereyes in our garden, yet we hardly ever see them. Along with other "little brown jobs", they stay well concealed amongst the densest foliage they can find. The bird netting over our mulberry tree has a handy opening right at the top, and through this they come and go freely, needing to make just a very short flight across a path to be back in a clump of bamboo.
Silvereyes like a little fruit in their diet, but we haven't found them at all destructive. They seem inclined to wait until a blackbird has broken the skin of, say, a grape, before they begin to feed on it.
