If it has a seed, it's a feed
The cotoneaster, a relative of roses and apples, is listed as a weed species in Australia, but birds love it. These cockies, together with a dozen others, were having a great time eating the berries.
Sulphur crested cockatoos seem to like the seed much more than the flesh of any fruit. The flesh of plums is bitten off and discarded, the stone is cracked, and just the kernel is eaten. The ground beneath a prunus nigra quickly becomes littered with scraps, but the cockies are happy, and so are we, so long as they leave the narrabeen alone!
