Snail with bifurcated tentacle

Previous | Next | Thumbnails

Odd-looking snail

I had no idea that they were called tentacles; to me they've always been eye-stalks. Only the long upper ones are for seeing. The lower, smaller, pair can detect smells. Snails often touch these lower ones on the surface ahead, then quickly withdraw them. Whatever they're called, this fellow has more than the usual number.
