One day November 24
Decided it would go to war
And started hurling stones and sticks
At poor November 26

Meanwhile November 25
Planning to remain alive,
In hopeful but commanding tone
Declared itself a neutral zone.

By then November 26
Quite fed up with all these tricks
Started throwing more and more
Back to November 24.

Then, as you will no doubt guess
Most of the resulting mess
Fell with a suicidal dive
Onto November 25.

And then with a reluctant groan
The very recent neutral zone
Joined with November 26
In hurling many stones and sticks
Onto November 24
Who wished it hadn’t gone to war.
