Paula arriving at a cottage guesthouse

Since Tasmania has become well known as a holiday place, many of the older houses have been turned into accommodation for visitors.

Freshly painted in keeping with the feeling of the whole city, these cosy places give a taste of life a century ago, but without the discomforts.

a typical guestroom, with bright furnishings and lacy curtains

Charming, sunfilled rooms like this one offer privacy and comfort and all the usual amenities without the sameness of motels and hotels.
